Biographical information:
Li Yi-Jie, male, Ph.D., since May 2007, has been as a distinguished Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Since 1988, he has been engaged in the research of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) materials and physics in China, the United States, Japan, Germany and Australia. He has obtained a number of international leading level achievements. During working in the International Superconductivity Technology Center, he successfully developed the world's first high-quality Nd-Ba-Cu-O (NdBa2Cu3O7) film and NBCO/Sr2AlTaO6-multilayer film with a high critical current density using the excimer laser coating technology. The achievement was awarded the outstanding Contribution Award of the international Superconductivity technology Center. In the IGC- SuperPower, New York, USA, severing as a senior scientist and project manager, he engaged in second-generation HTS tapes key research projects. In July 2004, he successfully developed the world's first one 100 m long YBCO tape, and achieved a new world record of 7000 A·m.
In 2007, he returned to his homeland, and founded the lab of second generation HTS tape in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Since then, he has undertaken a number of research projects funded by the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program) and Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology. In December 2010, he has successfully developed the preparation process of 100-meter-long superconducting tape (United States, Japan, and Germany all spent nearly ten years to successfully develop 100-meter-long superconducting tape), and the superconducting current is higher than 100 Amps. The achievement has laid a solid foundation for subsequent research and especially for the industrialization of second generation HTS tape. At present, Shanghai Jiao Tong University is the only unit that is able to develop 100-meter-long second-generation HTS tapes.
