By combining spin-polarized and non-polarized scanning tunneling microcopy and high resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, the researches are focused on the novel quantum phenomenon in the low dimensional systems resulting from the quantum confinement effect and/or electron-electron correlations. Utilizing low-temperature technique, researches on the transport properties in the low dimensional systems including metal, metal-oxide, semiconductor nanostructures, magnetic materials, organic molecules, topological insulators and so on are carrying out. Our ultimate goal is to realize quantum controls on the electronic structures and spin states experimentally in the low dimensional systems through the widely cooperation with other research directions in the laboratory such as nano and artificial structures, high temperature superconductor growth, first principle calculations and so on.
